Beat from the Bone

Premiere: April 2027 Helsinki

Beat from the Bone is a trance-like contemporary circus performance that explores rhythm as a form of human connection. Combining acrobatics, physical movement, and an original soundscape, the work unfolds as a pulsing journey toward a shared human core: A moment of rest within an unceasing beat.

Five acrobats move through a landscape of wooden planks and aerial ropes, bringing together floor acrobatics, object manipulation, and balancing within constantly shifting structures. The physical language is intense, raw, and precise, built on trust, cooperation, and collective presence. Rather than highlighting individual virtuosity, the performance focuses on the power of rhythm and community to bring bodies together in shared action.

The soundscape of the show grows from the performers’ own pulse, breath, and contact sounds. These organic elements gradually expand into an immersive electronic soundscape, carrying the performance forward. Movement and sound merge into a hypnotic rhythm that engages both body and mind.

The visual world is minimalistic and flexible for touring. Planks and ropes form simple yet dynamic structures that invite constant transformation. Light and projections are used sparingly to extend movement into shadows and abstract imagery. Together, these elements create a striking visual and aural rhythm that adapts well to medium and large stages.

At its core, Beat from the Bone is about connection: to the body, to others, and to the shared vitality that unites living beings. The performance invites audiences to breathe and move within the same rhythm — discovering a collective pulse that resonates long after the final beat.
