NouNous Festival films: Frédéric Barrette: Bonnet d’Homme

They’ve got donkeys, big beards, an accordion, a chainsaw, few words and occasional nudity. They live out in the country in a little stone house on a big lot. Their life is built around an almost- mechanical routine, as they work on their great project. It’s a project the two burly men have been working on since they walked away from the art world and its disappointments. Formerly a multidisciplinary circus artist, director Frédéric Barrette presents a first feature whose unique minimalist shots give off the refreshing scent of utopia and reinvented burlesque.
