Funis
Hakanpää-Pehrsson-Ruotanen-Salin
Funis by Salla Hakanpää, Joonas Pehrsson, Anssi Ruotanen and Salla Salin is a living installation that takes shape as a dialogue between space, sound, light and human bodies. The work invites the visitor to become a part of an experiential landscape where assumptions of story-centric narrative and the stage as a place of displaying skill are challenged. Instead at the heart of the work lie simultaneity, commonality, and giving space to a multitude of agencies. Funis creates a space for us to ask ourselves and each other how we observe the world around us and how we are connected to each other one way or another.
The Latin word “funis” means a cord or a cord-like structure, such as a rope, or an umbilical cord.
