Stage – Suvilahti Summer Theatre: A DARK POST-MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

A DARK POST-MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM is a dance piece that toys with the concept of open air theater. It is built on the material provided by the Pimeä Hedelmä rap group and the night’s special guests. Dance artists Kaisa Nieminen and Vanessa Virta set up Pimeä Hedelmä together with producer Olli Tiikkainen in 2018. In A DARK POST-MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, Nieminen and Virta’s artistic dance and music practices meet up as parallel modes of expression and thus create new effervescent choreography.

Night’s guest duo:

Founded in 2015, Amanda & Lydia is a Helsinki-based queer performance duo with influences from vogue, burlesque and drag art. Amanda & Lydia have performed at major music festivals and club and corporate events as well as appeared in television productions and music videos of Finland’s A-list artists from Jenni Vartiainen to Antti Tuisku and Krista Siegfrieds.

Amanda and Lydia are part of a collective called the Gorgeous House of Gucci Finland. In fall 2020, the Students’ Union of the University of the Arts Helsinki awarded the collective with their annual Academic Fine Arts Award.
Amanda & Lydia are known for their shows that ooze with brilliance, drama and sex. Rest assured – these will be on the menu also at the Stage – Suvilahti Open-Air Theater.
