Stage – Suvilahti Summer Theatre: Red Nose Company – Babylon (FI)
Babylon (Minna Puolanto) wants to solve all the core questions regarding power. In the quest, she is assisted by her servant Ré (Hanna Seppä). The show scrutinizes situations where power is exercised. Besides their own experiences, the two clowns drag to the stage an assortment of scepter swingers ranging from Madonna to Ronaldo and from Catherine the Great to a smug dictator.
Directed by Marielle Eklund-Vasama, Babylon investigates power structures between different genders and comments on the still topical #metoo revolution.
Babylon caught the eye of theater goers in fall 2018 and it was included in the main program of Tampere Theater Festival in 2019.
★★★★★
”Babylon is a tale about power, seen from the viewpoints of two clowns. The show is exhilaratingly feministic, outspoken and savagely funny. ”
– YLE Tuula Viitaniemi
